Blessing of the bells

We are lucky in Great Tey to have both a church tower with bells and an enthusiastic team of ringers.

In May 2024 we celebrated both ringers and bells with a special service at St Barnabas. Many of the ringers came down from their tower after ringing, to join us in a joyful service with lots of references to bells! Children from the school’s recently formed hand bell ringing group, played for us at the start of the service. Very well they did too, especially as it was only their second attempt at ringing a tune on their hand bells.

At the end of the service our rector, Ian, blessed the bells. We hope to make it an annual event, so see you next year!
