A New Rector
The search for a new rector to look after Great and Little Tey, Chappel and Wakes Colne and Aldham and Marks Tey, churches, is still ongoing. The post is currently being re-advertising.
Help is at hand!
The exciting news is that, from September, Rev Emma Barr will be assisting on a part-time basis. It will be an informal arrangement, whereby Emma will begin to get to know everyone and take services, concentrating on Great and Little Tey, Chappel and Wakes, but helping out in Marks Tey and Aldham when she can.
Emma already knows many people in Great Tey as she lived here for many years and still lives right on the border of Wakes Colne. She has just finished her curacy, is having some time off in August before starting with us in September. We very much hope that this will become a permanent, formal post, later in the autumn. However, there are administrative and logistical hurdles to be navigated first.
Pop Up Teas – Thank you so much!
As I write this, we still have one Sunday to go, but so far you have all turned out in force to enjoy our spectacularly good teas (I would say that wouldn’t I! As we have lots of returning customers we must be doing something right!) Thank you very much for all your support.
An especial thank you to everyone who made it possible. Those who put the tents up and down, all the helpers who put out tables and chairs and laid up, and then served all the customers, made the tea, washed up and cleared up. Last, but not least, all those who made wonderful cakes and scones.
Everyone’s efforts will have raised more than £1500 for church funds.
Fete – Saturday 29th August
We are all looking forward to The Fete – A traditional Garden Fete to be held in Walcotts Hall garden,
by kind permission of Simon and Nicki. We hope to have stalls and side shows, swimming and archery.
Punch and Judy will be here again with new stories to tell – even a visit from a foreign Mr Punch
The Archers are going to have a competition for everyone to have a go at.
