Church News February 2026
Christmas Services
A full church and lots of singing!
Thank you everyone who joined us at the Carol Service or on Christmas Day. It was a pleasure for all of us to be part of large congregations all singing our hearts out!
A special thank you to our team of hand bell ringers. They played at the start of the Carol Service again this year and did really well. We will definitely do it again this year. Ann promised that we would start practising a bit earlier and be a bit more ambitious.
We have some plans for more hand bell ringing in the near future. More news soon.
Candlemas
Traditionally, Candlemas was celebrated on the 2nd February and marked the time when Jesus was presented to the congregation in the Temple. It became associated with the lighting of lots of candles, because Jesus was the 'Light of the World'. Many countries have traditions associated with Candlemas, including the French who used to celebrate by making pancakes.
Ash Wednesday - the first day of Lent, falls on 18th February this year. We will be celebrating it with a service of Compline at 7.30 in Little Tey Church.
Disposing of dead flowers in the Churchyard - A reminder
PLEASE NOTE - We ask everyone to kindly take home any dead flowers or wrappings or Christmas Wreaths rather than leaving them anywhere in the Churchyard now that the Christmas season is over. Thank you
