Bottle Stall at the Fete

Let’s make it a bumper year! The box will be outside the Old Vicarage (next to the village Hall) again this year from the beginning of July. So, lots of bottles please – every thing from shampoo to champagne!

A New Parish Priest

We are getting a little closer! Interviewing for a new rector should, with a little bit of luck, start in September. So, more news soon!

We have prepared a 'Parish Profile'. This is a joint document, produced by representatives of the 6 parishes. It contains information about each individual church and its congregation, about its style of worship and its local activities. It forms part of the package of information available to anyone interested in applying for the post of priest-in-charge of these 6 churches.

Music for a Summer Afternoon in Little Tey Church

Sunday 7th September – 3pm - see details.

Harvest Thanksgiving

Sunday 21st September

A wonderful opportunity to remember just how lucky we are to live in a fruitful and beautiful part of the countryside. Great Tey was, for many centuries, reliant on its place in the countryside, for its very existence. We can remember and be thankful for that too. Familiar harvest hymns to sing, the church will be decorated with a harvest theme.

Harvest Supper

Saturday 27th September 7pm.

Always good fun! As ever, a delicious candle lit supper, in a traditional Essex Barn. Tickets £15. Please see event details. or contact Ann Bartleet on 01376 561505 for more details.

Heritage Day October 11th

We are having it in the autumn this year in early October. We are focusing on the history of the churchyard – a thousand years of use for all sorts of surprising things and all sorts of happenings, never mind burials! For anyone who has missed explanatory tours of the building and it’s interesting history, there will be an opportunity for that too. It will be in the afternoon. See event details here.

Disposing of dead flowers in the churchyard – a reminder

PLEASE NOTE – We ask everyone to kindly take home any dead flowers or flower wrappings or Christmas wreaths rather than leaving them anywhere in the churchyard now that the Christmas season is over. Thank you

OPEN BOOK

Open The Book is run by the Bible Society and it teaches young children the simple stories of the bible in a form that young people can understand. A small group of us go into Great Tey School once a fortnight to read a story with actions during their assembly. The story only takes about ten minutes and we have a practice for half an hour beforehand. lt is a Church School, so we have a responsibility to teach the children about the bible.

lf you feel that you could give us an hour of your time every other Thursday at 2pm.during term time, it would help us maintain this valuable service. Thank you.
