Looking back at 2023

FUNDRAISING EVENTS – THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP in 2023!

The village has been fantastic in the support it has given to all the events we have organised this year,  everything from Pop Up Teas to Punch and Judy shows! We hope we have generated some fun along the way. The organisers have certainly enjoyed themselves! Here’s to more of the same next year!

Harvest Supper

This was a great success. Everyone gathered in a traditional Essex Barn. It was an unseasonably warm evening. There was an excellent supper, provided and served by volunteers. We were entertained by Kate Welham on the piano and Jane Pearson gave us a graphic description of what it was like to be poor in Great Tey in the nineteenth century.

Jigsaw Bring and Buy

This happened on a very wet morning! In spite of that, we were given lots and lots of jigsaws and a good crowd arrived to acquire more! We still have quite a few left, so we will have another morning in the new year.

The Fete

Thank you everyone who helped make this a very successful event.  The Punch and Judy Show was a big hit with the under 10's and as a result we had more families and small children with us than we had had for many a year. As a result we raised over £2,000 and everyone had a very good time. We were lucky, at last, with the weather - perfect!

Ride and Stride

This is a sponsored cycle/walk in aid of grant giving for all sorts of ecclesiastical buildings to help keeping them in good repair. The participants can nominate a church building that they would like to receive half their sponsorship money.

A few riders/walkers took part and nominated our churches amongst others. Next year we are hoping to find more riders/walkers. Those who took part this year enjoyed it, but it was a bit hot! Congratulations to our Rector and Jane his wife who visited 22 churches in spite of the heat. Heroic!

Musical Afternoon in Little Tey Churchyard

A delightful occasion - wonderful harp music and a delicious tea. Most people were able to find a some shade! Thanks to the organisers and all the visitors.

Pop Up Teas

These happened in the churchyard again this year and were popular as ever. Lots of cream teas and homemade cakes eaten. We need lots of helpers to make this a success and we are very grateful to all of them. We raised over £1,000 for church funds.
